Hang onto your music instruments like the Bad Crap

We know what your thinking, don’t do it. After being a musician for a few years you can’t help but collect a lot of instruments. For instance, I started playing snare drum and from there expanded to drum set. While I was learning how to play drums my brother started taking guitar lessons. Just about the time he lost interest in playing, I picked up his axe and began to play guitar. Of course from there it was only a matter of time before I started to collect a number of guitars and my music instrument collection spun out of control from there

If your like me, at some point you will get the idea that you could sell off the instruments that you aren’t using to make some extra scratch. These days everyone can use working cash and it’s always tempting to unload your unwanted gear. But take it from me, this is potentially the WORST MISTAKE you will ever make. Hang onto your gear, trust me, it’s worth way more to you if you still play. You never know when your going to want to pickup that instrument that you haven’t been playing and the cost is so great to go back out and buy it again.

The reason I bring this up is that I just went through one of these struggles. I have a vintage Roger’s Power Tone Drum Set with Dyna-sonic Snare that I’ve had in storage for a few years. Recently I had to take it out of storage and find a new home for it so I considered just selling it instead. After thinking through my options, I decided to keep the drums. My main reason was that they were worth more to me to not sell them. If I were lucky, (in the condition they are in) I could get ~$300 at most for my drums. But if I were to decided I wanted a new set down the road to replace them I’d need to outlay at least $2000 to get back all the hardware I’d need. So while I’m not playing the drums at the moment, it just makes sense to hang onto them.

Don’t you agree?

Bad Crap’s first video, FINALLY!

Dear camp Bad Crap,

my deepest apologies on my long absence from the blog updates. Hopefully this load of Bad Crap will make up for the lag in material. Here is the “video” if you will of Late This Afternoon which was a collaboration between Charles Minguez and the Bad Crap compiled of photos and videos shot by us. The really good quality videos were shot by Charles Minguez by the way. Thanks again buddy, you do fantastic work!

Our goal for the direction of any future Bad Crap video is simple. We are looking to have someone talented and artistic take over for us from here on out.  We have a few inspired ideas, but as you can see, our video production minus Charles’s work is quite basic so we are asking our readers and fans for some help on future Bad Crap video projects for YouTube. Please contact us if you are interested in collaborating with Bad Crap and we will love you forever.  And maybe write some flattering songs about you too.  d

Love,

BAD CRAP

Bad Crap in Pearl Jam Heaven

Share on TwitterShare on TumblrSubmit to StumbleUponSave on DeliciousDigg ThisShare on Myspace

Bad Crap is essentially a band that is here because of other bands we grew up listening to.  If you listen closely you can hear every single one of our musical influence shining through on both Bad Crap CDs.  Pearl Jam for me, is one of my bigger all time influences and if you know me, you already know that one.  I’m not sure what it is about Pearl Jam exactly, but Eddie Vedder and company struck the perfect chord at the right time in my life to make a lasting impression.

Pearl Jam is still Alive.

It’s about time the Bad Crap talked drums and drumming.  I myself grew up playing a Rogers drum kit which my parents purchased used when I was 15 years old.  The drum kit not only  lasted all this time, but it also made it through countless live Bad Crap performances and two Bad Crap albums.  I’ll never get rid of them.

Who does the Bad Crap Play?

Over the years I also became a fan of Tama, Pearl, Sonar and Yamaha drums but the one thing I always wanted was a custom drum kit.

Why go Custom?
